A downloadable game

This is a very early prototype chess deckbuilding game. Development is probably not going to go very far beyond this because I don't have resources for better art, sounds, vfx, UI and all those other things.

Drag pieces and items to move them. Squares where moves are legal are highlighted. Click on pieces, badges or items to see descriptions for them on the right side of the screen. For badges and items, you will also see the legal squares where you can use them (illegal squares in red or orange). Enemy pieces also show you where they can move. The Control Zones button shows where your pieces and enemy pieces can threaten.

You can't capture or use items on turn 1. Also note that castling is less restricted than in normal chess (i.e. there is no restriction on pieces not being moved, and you can castle with any non pawnlike piece.)

Pawnlike pieces are any piece that can promote (and nonpawns are any piece that can't)

You can win each battle by leaving the enemy with only one piece or by reaching the back rank with your King, or by stalemating as well as the normal Checkmate. Note that the enemy has access to all these victory conditions as well.

Items will refresh at the end of each battle, so don't be afraid to use them.

It's certainly an interesting chess variant, but some rules are unintuitive and downright absurd. Especially in Momentum Kingdom, I just wanted to smash everything. I had to move the king because of the Momentum piece's ‘future check,’ I couldn't help but think “What the heck am I supposed to do?”

I kind of intended them to have some "drive by" attack strategies that you wouldn't get if they moved after your turn instead of after the enemy turn. Not really sure how to make those pieces more clear

After trying it a few more times, I finally grasped the concept of momentum pieces(and why it checks for 'future' places). But there's just too much to think about in this place. I'm never going back to this kingdom again :P

By the way, the game freezes with high probability as it progresses into the latter stages.

Do you have screenshots of where it crashes?

Not sure if i'm just bad
or if i'm missing something
but even on easy difficulty this is really hard

 i feel like enemies get too good pieces too fast

Currently the difficulty only controls how good the AI moves but I'll probably change that soon
